Sulema  Acosta (Castro)
Worcester-Sulema (Castro) Acosta, formerly of Lancaster, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, May 1, 2022. She is pre-deceased by her beloved husband of 53 years, Francisco W. Acosta. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Frank Acosta & Joselina of New York City, NY; Juan Acosta & Clara Diaz of Virginia Beach, VA; Maximo Acosta & Critabel of Leominster; Luis Acosta & Naomi of Indianapolis, IN; Maria Frias & Peter of Worcester; and Ramon Acosta & Iris of Virginia Beach, VA; 24 grandchildren, Allison, Laura, Michael, Timothy, Cristy, Melissa, Caesar, Tatiana, Martin, Pedro, Eva, Marisol, Morel, Helene, Nicholas, Linda, Omar, Marissa, Marisita, Alberto, Alex, Priscilla, Joe, and David; 14 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and dear friends. She is pre-deceased by two daughters, Maritza Garcia and Rita Lopez, grandson Nicholas Diaz, and siblings, Reina Castro, George Castro, and Bienvenido Castro.
Sulema was born in La Romana, Dominican Republic, daughter of the late Juan Bautista and Rogelia Castro. In addition to raising their family, Sulema and Francisco served their faith communities as literature evangelists and devout members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. They served as founders of numerous SDA churches and were passionate to preach the teachings of God. Sulema will be forever remembered as a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2022 from 5 until 7PM in the Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home, 176 Water St., Clinton. A Funeral Service will be celebrated at 10AM on Friday, May 6, 2022 at the Clinton Spanish Seventh-day Adventist Church, 250 Church St., Clinton, with burial to follow in Eastwood Cemetery, Lancaster.
