Obituary for Rita Parker (Woodcome)

Rita Parker (Woodcome)
Lancaster-Rita M. (Woodcome) Parker, 61, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Friday, January 28, 2022.  She is survived by her children, Jacquelyn Parker Herrick & husband Alan of Clinton; Benjamin Parker & wife Nicole of Holden; and Alexander Parker of Lancaster; three adoring grandchildren, Madison, Parker, and Ashton Herrick.  She leaves her mother, Reona Woodcome of Lancaster; her sisters, Peggy Aldouri, Francine Hackler, both of Lancaster; and Mary-Kay Healy & husband John of Hubbardston; brother-in-law Phil Laursen of Brewster; nieces, nephews, extended family, and many dear friends.  She is pre-deceased by her father, William Woodcome, and her sister, Patricia Laursen.
Raised and educated in Lancaster, Rita graduated from Nashoba Regional High School, Class of 1978 and achieved her professional degree from Salter College.  In addition to raising her family, Rita spent her professional career working in the BioTech Industry, from where she ultimately retired as Director of Operations and Human Resources.  A woman of great faith, she was a long-time member of Immaculate Conception Parish in Lancaster.
Rita was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She valued time with her children and grandchildren who affectionately called her “Bebop.” She had an infectious smile and passion for spending time with family and friends. Whether going out or staying in, she enjoyed deep conversations and the warmth of friendship. Rita’s table was always open to those in need of a chat, she had an uncanny ability to make people feel appreciated and heard. Her greatest joys were sharing a laugh and quality time with loved ones.
Among her many enjoyments, Rita was happiest while traveling with her sisters, taking annual trips to the beach with family and friends, adventures to the Cape to visit her sister, and cherished pool days with her children and grandchildren. She found a love for pickle ball after her retirement and enjoyed partaking in card nights with family and friends.
Calling hours will be held from 4 until 7PM on Friday, February 4, 2022 in the Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home, 176 Water St., Clinton.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11AM on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at Immaculate Conception Church, 809 Main St., Lancaster.  Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Rita Parker to: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN, 38105.  Online condolences may be placed at www.philbincomeaufh.com
