Friend & Neighbor

To Bob & Family,

I'd like to share a story of Nancy as she was just one of a kind. I knew of Nancy while working at the funeral home, as she was there quite often paying respects to whom she deemed necessary, she alway told me when she lost her husband, it warmed her heart to see so many people taking the time to care for her saddness. That's why she attended so many calling hours, she wanted to give those in need the same feeling she felt when friends took the time for her.

Then I had the good fortune to become her 3rd floor tenant, I say her tenant because she was the one in charge. We all knew it right form the start. I never had to worry about not getting my mail as she sorted our mail for all 3 floors and brought it up to the 3rd floor landing. Nancy was always there to greet us no matter how many times we went up & down the stairs. I made it my mission to supply her with a dunkin Ice Black coffee and a Bacon Egg & Cheese on a Coissant for her troubles. She love them so much.

Before covid hit, she looked forward to playing golf in the annual Pat Hallet memorial golf tournament at Twin Springs. She was the best putter and chipper right up to 94 years old and we were proud to have her on our team. She was also one of the founding members of the Berlin CC Ladies League.

I remember one night on my way to a Masonic event I was in my tuxedo and she met me at the door and she said I was looking pretty sharp tonight, I thanked her and asked her if she wouldn't mind me standing for inspection on the way out with either my tuxedo or suit as my mom and grandmother would always give me the thumbs up. She of course was delighted. We had many talks about life and golf and politics, she finally told me I could join her on her front porch to have a drink and a cigar as she didn't want Robyn and I to get wet on the back 3rd floor deck. She was a wonderful lady with a huge heart. We will certainly miss her. Clinton, Mass, lost a true gem for sure.
