Clinton-Mark Pianowski, 61, passed away at UMass Medical Center on December 28, 2018, surrounded by his family. He leaves his sister, Sister Kathy Bernadette Wiinikka of Lancaster, and a sister-in-law, Yvonne Pianowski of Clinton. Uncle Mark leaves several nieces and nephews: Patty Hammons & husband Tony of AZ; John Wiinikka & wife Lauren of ME; Christine Wiinikka & husband Joe of Lancaster; Danielle Pianowski & fiance JT of NC, and Cassie Pianowski of Clinton. He was a Great Uncle to nieces and nephews: Tony, Rachel, Elyse, Ava, and Elijah. He is pre-deceased by his brothers, Bernard “Chipper,” Thomas, and Rev. Joseph Pianowski.
Mark was born in Charleroi, PA to the late Joseph & Elizabeth (Krisko) Pianowski. Following graduation from Worcester Boys Trade School, he enlisted to serve in the US Navy. A proud patriot, Mark was honorably discharged as a Lithographer Seaman and certified expert in jungle warfare. He returned home safely and worked as a research technician for several environmental companies before retiring. True to his roots, Mark remained a lifelong die-hard fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. A motorcycle enthusiast, he could often be found enjoying a ride on his cherished Harley-Davidson. Above all, Mark was proudest to be an uncle and kept up with the many adventures of his nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30AM on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at St. John the Evangelist Church, 80 Union St., Clinton. A calling hour will be held prior to Mass on Thursday morning from 10 until 11AM in the Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home, 176 Water St., Clinton.
