Margaret J. "Peg"  Murphy (Kittredge)
Clinton-Margaret J. (Kittredge) Durkin Murphy, 87, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Wednesday, February 2, 2022. She was pre-deceased by her husbands, Paul A. Durkin in 1964, and Martin J. Murphy, Jr. in 2011. She is survived by generations of nieces and nephews, notably Maureen Kittredge, Obie Kittredge, Michael J. Kittredge III, Lisa Rodriguez, Laurie Eland, Kathleen Hogan, Patricia Tait, Charles Hogan, the Durkin, and Murphy families. She leaves her sister-in-law Loretta Kittredge of West Boylston; extended family and many dear friends. She is pre-deceased by her siblings, Michael J. Kittredge, Jr., Mary Hogan and husband Charles, John J. Kittredge & wife Duff, and nephew Peter J. Kittredge.
Peg was born in Clinton, daughter of the late Michael J. & Grace (Devaney) Kittredge. She graduated from the Clinton High School, Class of 1952, achieved her undergraduate degree in Education from Anna Maria College, and her Master in Education degree from Worcester State College. Adored and respected by her students and peers, Mrs. Murphy enjoyed her 37 year career teaching 5th and 6th grade students in the West Boylston Middle School. She was a woman of great faith, life member and long time Eucharistic Minister of St. John the Guardian of Our Lady Parish in Clinton. An active member of the Clinton Senior Center Peg enjoyed the friendship of those in her weekly card games and events. She was known by all as “Aunt Peg” to family and non-family alike, and will be remembered lovingly for her unwavering optimism, wisdom, guidance, Irish wit, and positive influence. Calling hours will be held from 5 until 7PM on Monday, February 7, 2022 in the Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home, 176 Water St., Clinton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10AM on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 in St. John the Evangelist Church, 80 Union St., Clinton, with burial to follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Lancaster.
