The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of James Segar can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

When Jim came to BCA

Before Jim came to BCA I had hopes of becoming class valedictorian.  When Jim showed up my hopes began to fade.  I recall assembly times when we had computation competitions.  Often Jim and I would be at the board together.  I can't remember that I ever won against him.

Jim was such a congenial person.  He had a nice sense of humor.  He was level-headed and kind.  We never heard a cross word from him.  He was very diligent and worked hard to support himself.  It was a privilege to have him as a classmate.

When we were in college Mary Lou and I were planning to room together.  I introduced her to my mother as my new roommate for the next year and she blushingly informed me that it wasn't to be because she and Jim would be "rooming together."  What a beautiful marriage they put together!
