Obituary for Ida Fairbanks (Dodier)

Ida Fairbanks (Dodier)

Clinton-Ida (Dodier) Fairbanks, 97, passed away peacefully at UMass Medical Center in Worcester on Thursday, December 2, 2021.  She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 68 years, William F. Fairbanks.  She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn T. Oberg & husband George, with whom she lived, of Clinton; her son, William J. Fairbanks & wife Priscilla of Center Harbor, NH; five granddaughters, Karen Oberg, Kimberly Casasanto, Jacqueline Baldassarre, Angela Giannantonio, and Megan Fairbanks; 12 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.  She is pre-deceased by her siblings Maurice Dodier and Caris Brejtfus.
Daughter of the late Joseph H. & Alphena (Pouliot) Dodier, Ida was born in Rolingsford, NH, and resided in Clinton since early childhood.  In addition to raising her family, Ida held several professional positions, most notably as a hospital aide and invisible mender, before retiring.  Since her husband’s retirement in 1983, the Fairbanks have enjoyed over 35 years in Indialantic, Florida as well as many summers at Lake Winnipesaukee, NH.  Ida was a prayer leader in Women’s Aglow Fellowship, a world-wide network of born again, spirit-filled Christian women.  She served as the chairwoman of intercessory prayer in the Melbourne, Florida chapter, held the hospitality position in the Clinton chapter for many years, and was coordinator of an extensive and successful global prayer line.  Ida cherished the tradition of Sunday family dinners and was happiest in her role as the loving family matriarch.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at 10:30AM in St. John the Evangelist Church, 80 Union St., Clinton, with burial to follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Lancaster.  There will be no calling hours held.
