Obituary for Heather A. Gibbons (Barney)

Heather A. Gibbons (Barney)
Clinton-Heather A. (Barney) Gibbons, 56, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at UMass Medical Center-Memorial Campus in Worcester, following a brief illness. She is survived by her husband, soulmate, and the love of her life, Charles J. Gibbons, who worshipped the ground she walked on; her children and her pride and joy, Jacob C. Hakala of Gardner; and Mattea Hakala of Leominster; her brother, Scott Barney of Lunenburg; niece Shelbie Barney of Uxbridge; uncle & aunt, John Sawyer & Debbie; cousin Johnna Sawyer, all of Clinton; extended family, her psycho cat Midge, and countless friends who were all family to Heather. She is pre-deceased by her twin infant sisters, Heidi and Holly.
Daughter of the late Edward & Maureen Sawyer-Barney, Heather was born, raised, and educated in Clinton. She began her career with Nypro, Inc. and later returned to school to complete studies and achieve her certificate to become a Certified Nursing Assistant. Always reliable, sincere, funny, and strong-willed, Heather was a great source of care, compassion, enjoyment and entertainment for the many residents and co-workers at the Corcoran House in Clinton, where she has worked for the past ten years. At home, she was the “Mo Cuishle” to Charlie, his world and his savior. Heather devoted her life to her family and cherished every moment with her children Jacob & Mattea. Among her greatest enjoyments were trips home to Ireland with Charlie, summers at the beach, playing pitch with friends, and a good game of Pac-Man. She loved turtles and all animals, always placed others before herself, and was the first to help a friend in need. A celebration of Heather’s life will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2022 from 2 until 5PM at the Turner Hall, 60 Branch St., Clinton. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Heather Gibbons to: Corcoran House-Activities Fund, 40 Walnut St., Clinton, MA 01510. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home, 176 Water St., Clinton. Online condolences may be placed at www.philbincomeaufh.com
