Lancaster-Ellen J. (Twing) Barker, 77, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 4, 2022 at River Terrace Healthcare Center in Lancaster. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Jerry Barker. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Howard Harris & Susan of Clinton; Melissa Leccese & Michael of Weare, NH; Julie Jakobsen & James of Clinton; Christine Phillips & Michael of Kansas City, MO; and Andrew Barker & companion Kat Letze of Worcester. She leaves her siblings, Susan Seymour & husband Daniel of South Lancaster; and Joyce Nadeau of Florida; 9 grandchildren, Cassandra, Demetrius, Jessica, Joseph, Alice, Cecelia, Alexandria, Christopher, and Katie; great granddaughter Gabriella; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and many dear friends. She is pre-deceased by her daughter Bonnie Jean Whittington, and siblings, Linda Gagnon and Keith Twing.
Daughter of the late William & Margaret (Weeks) Twing, Ellen was raised in Lancaster and Templeton. She graduated from the South Lancaster Academy, Class of 1962 and obtained her undergraduate degree from Hesser College. In addition to raising her family, Ellen was employed for several local businesses before achieving her Master Plumbers license and working beside her husband Jerry in their family business, Barker Plumbing in Lancaster. In retirement years she was well known and adored as a bus driver for the Lancaster Public Schools. Among her many enjoyments, Ellen was an avid reader and gardener. She loved her community and the many friendships she shared with her neighbors at Bigelow Gardens.
