Edwin  Melendez Sr.
Worcester-Edwin Melendez, Sr., 53, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, November 15, 2020. He is survived by his children: Edwin Melendez, Jr., Stephanie Melendez, and Luis Melendez, all of Worcester; step-son Vencenzo Brancaccio of Rhode Island; and seven grandchildren. He leaves his siblings: Maria “Gola” Melendez, Angel “Pito” Melendez, Reynaldo “Choly” Melendez, all of Clinton; Jose “Che” Torres, Celso “Kike” Torres, Victor “Golo” Melendez, all of Florida; and Maximo “Min” Torres of Puerto Rico; many nieces and nephews, and his life-long best friend and mother to his children, Angelique “Angel” Brancaccio. He is pre-deceased by his parents Arcadia Calderon and Carlos Melendez, and siblings: Maria “Tata” Melendez, Carmen Torres, Hector Torres, and Gilberto “Putin” Melendez.
Edwin was born and raised in Arecibo, Puerto Rico. After emigrating to the United States as a child, he settled with his family in Brockton and graduated from the Brockton High School, Class of 1985. He and his family later moved to Clinton, where he began his career in the field of plastics manufacturing, working for both Kelly Plastics and later Nypro, Inc. In his spare time, Edwin enjoyed playing dominoes, completing word searches, and watching classic films in black and white. He was an avid outdoorsman, camper and fisherman. Edwin was happiest while making others laugh with his quick wit and sense of humor. Above all, he was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Calling hours will be held from 4 until 7PM on Friday, November 20, 2020 in the Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home, 176 Water St., Clinton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10AM on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at St. John the Evangelist Church, 80 Union St., Clinton, with burial to follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Lancaster.
