Christine M.  Smith (Picard)
Clinton-Christine M. Smith, 67, passed away on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at Tufts Medical Center in Boston. Born in Fitchburg on October 24, 1954, she was the daughter of Ida (Gauvin) Picard and Maurice Picard of Lunenburg. Christine was the youngest of seven children. She graduated from Lunenburg High School in 1973, and later earned a masters certificate in project management from George Washington University School of Business and Public Management. She also became a notary public and a certified grant writer. Her professional career included employment at Worcester North Savings Institution, I.C. Federal Credit Union, Digital Equipment Corporation, Compaq Computer, Hewlett-Packard, North Central MA Jobs Training Center, and Sterling Manufacturing. Christine enjoyed playing golf, and was actively involved in the Special Olympics Program, where she both coached and participated in various events. She loved being around family and friends and was equally comfortable in other social settings. She enjoyed spending time with her pets, baking, decorating and crafting. Christine was pre-deceased by four siblings, Susan Higgins, Barbara Grillo, Robert Picard and Maurice Picard, Jr. She leaves behind her husband of 37 years, Daryl Smith of Clinton, two brothers, Roger and David Picard, both of Leominster, three brothers-in-law, Crandall Smith, Jr. and his wife Margaret of Vero Beach, Florida, Keith Smith and his wife Lisa of Tucson, Arizona, and Bruce Higgins of Gardner. Mrs. Smith also leaves behind several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Special thanks to nieces Sarah Thibeault, Sacha McGuire and Lisa Kerouac for their help during this difficult time. A celebration of life event is being planned for sometime in March. Anyone interested in attending this event may contact Daryl Smith at smithdaryl@comcast.net.
