Lancaster-Eunice T. (Knight) James, 91, passed away peacefully at Clinton Hospital on Thursday, September 14, 2017. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 33 years, Frederick B. James, who died March 1, 2017. She is survived by her step-children and their spouses, Kenneth James & Kyle of Concord, MA; Lawrence James & Terry of Ashland, OR; Doreen Fuller & fiancé John McTigue of Rockport, MA; Marcia James of Mesquite, NV; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren. She leaves her siblings and their spouses, Wilfred Knight & Judy of Jewett City, CT; Robert Knight & Frances of Windham, NH; Thorning Knight & Joanne of Chelmsford, MA; Calvin Knight & Evelyn of Nuevo, CA; Marie Figenbaum of Bedford, MA; numerous nieces, nephews, and many dear friends. She is pre-deceased by her step-son Frederick B. James, Jr. and her sibling Louise Larrabee.
Eunice was born in Waltham, MA, educated and raised on a farm in Hollis, New Hampshire, and is the daughter of the late Calvin Curtis & Eunice (Hardy) Knight. Throughout her career, she worked for the telephone company in Nashua, NH, later held employment with Raytheon in Waltham, and ultimately retired as a mail sorter from the US Postal Service in Worcester. Eunice enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. She looked forward to daily lunches with friends and visits with neighbors and family. She delighted in simply spending time with her beloved husband Fred, completing jigsaw puzzles, crocheting, and every year she thrilled in watching the youngsters play in the Little League World Series. She was a gardener and loved sharing her abundant crops of blueberries with everyone. For many years Eunice and Fred toured the country by car, accomplishing four cross-country road trips and several trips to Florida. Eunice was truly the salt of the earth and will be lovingly remembered by all. A graveside service will be celebrated at 11am on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 in Eastwood Cemetery, Old Common Rd., Lancaster.
