Obituary for James E. Burke

James E.  Burke
Clinton-James E. Burke, 76, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, August 17, 2017. He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Dona May (Lambert) Burke; two sons, Patrick Burke & wife Heather of Gardner; and Sean Burke and companion Emily Beatty of Fitchburg; two daughters, Melissa and Lori Pasquale; and 3 grandchildren, Tyler and Irelyn Burke, and Laryssa Truesdale. He leaves his siblings & their spouses, Loretta Rotti & Richard, George Burke and Barbara, all of Clinton; Robert Burke & Marilyn of FL; Thomas Burke & Nancy of Sterling; Julie Waterson of NY; Mary Millett of Oxford; numerous nieces, nephews, many dear friends. Jim is pre-deceased by siblings, Margaret “Peggy” Whaley, Kathryn Weeks, Francis, Paul, Jack, and William Burke.
James was born in Clinton to the late John & Gladys (Nettle) Burke. He attended local schools and enlisted to proudly serve our nation in the United States Army and was stationed in Korea. Jim returned home to begin his life long career as a painter, working with E.T. Mortimer and Orlando’s Painting before ultimately retiring. When not working he could often be found fishing or playing cards with family and friends. Jim was a devoted fan of the Red Sox, Patriots, Bruins and Celtics. He was happiest while in the company of his wife, children, and grandchildren and will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Calling hours will be held from 5 until 7PM on Monday, August 21, 2017 in the Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home, 176 Water St., Clinton, with a funeral service to be celebrated at 7PM. Burial will later be held in St. John’s Cemetery, Lancaster. Donations may be made in memory of James Burke to a charity of one’s choice. Online condolences may be placed at
