Obituary for Margaret Broderick (Hester)

Margaret  Broderick (Hester)
Sterling-Margaret (Hester) Broderick, 95, passed away peacefully at the Highlands in Fitchburg on Friday, June 16, 2017. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 42 years, Henry T. Broderick who died in 1991. She is survived by two children, William Broderick of Sterling; and Mary Ellen Broderick of Lancaster; 5 nieces, Kathy Wiggins, Bette Baker, Carol Brennan, Tara Brennan, and Mary Murphy; and many dear friends. She is pre-deceased by three sisters, Ethel Murphy, Eva Hester, and Mary Brennan, and two nephews, Stephen Murphy and Patrick Murphy.
Margaret was born in Clinton to the late Patrick & Mary (Corrigan) Hester. She graduated from the Clinton High School, Class of 1940. She obtained her professional degree from the Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School and began her career with the Law Office of Attorney Joseph Casey in Clinton. She later worked at St. Vincent Hospital as a secretary to the Administrator for many years until ultimately retiring. Margaret was a woman of great faith, founding member and CCD teacher at St. Richard of Chichester Parish in Sterling. She was past President of the Sterling Women’s Club and was a talented pianist. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend who will be remembered lovingly. Funeral services are to be held on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 from the Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home, 176 Water St., Clinton, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10AM in St. Richard of Chichester Church, 4 Bridge St., Sterling. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Lancaster. Calling hours will be held in the funeral home on Monday, June 19, 2017 from 5 until 8PM.
