Obituary for William Pelino Caloccia

William Pelino  Caloccia
Berlin-William P. Caloccia, 52, passed away on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 in his residence following a lengthy illness. He is survived by his mother Anne (Hutchins) Caloccia of Troy, NY; sister, Mary Caloccia of Homewood, IL; several aunts, cousins, and many dear friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Saverio D. Caloccia.
Bill was born in Springfield and raised in Troy, New York, where he attended local schools, graduated from Tamarac High School, and later obtained his degree in Computer Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI). Bill had a successful career in the computer industry working world wide for a variety of firms including, Stratus, OpenMarket, UPromise, and eventually Netezza, both before and after their acquisition by IBM. Bill was a staunch supporter of local farming, sustainable energy projects, public radio, and small independent business. He attended annually the Saratoga Jazz Fest and was a lover of music, animals, photography, and nature. He contributed vast knowledge and resources to the St. Vincent Hospital Cancer and Wellness Program and was an active member of the Land Rover Club of America and the Toller Rescue Association. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 from the Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home, 176 Water St., Clinton, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10AM in St. John the Evangelist Church, 80 Union St., Clinton. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery in Lancaster. Calling hours will be held in the funeral home on Monday, October 13, 2014 from 5 until 7PM.
