OUR HERITAGE

Built in 1890, this colonial mansion located at 176 Water St. served as the personal residence to the Walsh family in the early part of the century.  Prominent lawyer David I. Walsh purchased the home for his mother, sisters and himself to all reside.  David I. Walsh began his distinguished political career spanning nearly fifty years serving in the Massachusetts House of Representatives and later proudly being elected as the first Irish Catholic Governor and Senator to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Richard A. Philbin Undertakers began as a family profession in 1913 and proudly served the town of Clinton and surrounding populations.  Richard and Raymond Philbin owned and operated the Philbin Furniture Store which also served as their funeral home, and was located on High St. in Clinton.  The family later purchased the residence at 176 Water St. where we continue the rich traditions and aspirations of the Philbin family.  In 1980 Stephen and Donna Comeau purchased the home and business and we have continued to serve our area as the Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home.
