Sandra Comerford (Griffin)
Sterling-Sandra Marie (Griffin) Comerford, 62, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at UMass Medical Center in Worcester. She is survived by her beloved husband of 37 years, William N. Comerford, Jr.; their daughters, Bethany Comerford of Hudson; Jennifer Madrid Varela & husband Luis of Newport News, VA; and Cindy Lincoln & husband Myke of Sterling; two sisters, Carol Perkins and Mary Griffin, both of Clinton; 5 adoring grandchildren, Alexandra Lagos, Mariah and Shania Vargas, Tyler and Gavin Lincoln; great-grandchild Armani Lagos; granddog Khloe; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends, notably Jane Strong and Karen Black. She is pre-deceased by her sister Cynthia Griffin.
Sandy was born in Clinton to the late Francis & Elizabeth (Scanlon) Griffin. She graduated from Holy Family High School in Fitchburg and began her career as a nurses aide, working for many years at the Highlands in Fitchburg. She later achieved her realtor license and worked for Aberman Real Estate in Lancaster while holding membership with the Worcester County Board of Realtors. Sandy enjoyed the hobbies of completing Sudoku and crossword puzzles, and playing Bingo. She loved the beach and was happiest while resting her feet in the sand on Old Orchard Beach, Maine, or along the coast of Florida. She devoted her life to her husband, daughters, and grandchildren and was an inspiration to all with her positive attitude and strength throughout her illness. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 14, 2017 from the Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home, 176 Water St., Clinton, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10AM in St. John the Evangelist Church, 80 Union St., Clinton. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Lancaster. Calling hours will be held in the funeral home on Sunday, August 13, 2017 from 2 until 5PM.
